Practical tips on how to get your 2024 tax refund submitted and processed as fast as possible — from paperwork prep to what to expect from HMRC.

The 2024 tax year ends on 5 April 2024. This means that we can prepare claims for your 2024 tax refund now. Request a free pack to get started.

How Do I Get Started?

To get started, we need information on your income. Your 2024 Tax Return will include income for the entire 2024 tax year. This lasts from 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024.

When Should I Send In My Paperwork?

Now!

We recommend sending in the paperwork that you do have now. This allows us to start working on tax returns before the tax year ends and then fill in the blanks before we make any submissions. If you are not sure what we need, read the next section.

What Paperwork Do I Need?

The reason we need your paperwork is to understand exactly how much income you earned over the year.

  • For self-employment income (CIS), we are looking for an Annual Statement from your contractor, Wageslips or your Bank Statements.

  • For employment income (PAYE), we are looking for P60s or your final Payslips (Week 52 or Month 12).

If you haven’t got everything, don’t worry! We can work with you to make sure the information is correct. We will also happily contact your previous contractors or employers to get additional information to save you the hassle.

If you keep receipts, these should be included. They help us create an accurate picture of your work-related expenses.

How Much Can I Expect?

At Maximoor we pride ourselves on getting the best possible tax refunds for all of our clients. On average, our CIS clients take home over £2,550 from HMRC. Our PAYE clients can expect between £500 and £1,000 for a one year claim.

When Will I Get My Tax Refund?

Every year we operate on a “first come, first serve” basis so get your paperwork in now to be front of the queue in April. Typically, we estimate 3 to 4 weeks from submission to when the money is in your account, but it can be as quick as 10 days.

What If HMRC Have Questions About My Returns?

At Maximoor, we offer free year round support. Once you submit your 2023 tax return with us, you can expect all communication with HMRC to be dealt with by us.

Can I ask more questions?

Of course. Call our office on 020 3011 1335 with any questions or use this form to request a callback.
